One word summarizes Busourenki(武装錬金): Tokiko(斗貴子)! She is definitely the main draw for the show, baby. A petite yet violent tomboy-type gal kicking ass in a sailor dress, can you resist it? The protagonist Kazuki certainly can't! A lot of people should notice the seiyuu for little sis Mahiro is the now famous Hirano Aya(平野 綾) aka Suzimiya Haruhi.

Busourenkin uses many same terms from Full Metal Alchemist, like Homunculi(ホムンクルス); You also get to hear the term alchemy/power of alchemy(錬金術のちから) in the first episode like every other second. Yes, This series is yet another shounen series from Weekly Shounen Jump(週刊少年ジャンプ). I however haven't read the manga for this one.
